ALL : I'm Perfect
A- I'm African
B- I'm Jewish
ALL: We're Humans
A- I eat like everyone else
B- I breathe regular air
ALL: My skin is just different
A- I was born darker, there's nothing I can do.
B- I was light skin when I was born, I still am
ALL: I'm just like you, eventually you'll accept that
I have decided to write about racism because lately I've been reading about it. Like I noticed it started happening every where. What happened to this world getting better? It just seems to be getting worse. I believe everyone is equal, no matter their size, skin color, personality. ANYTHING everyone was made the same way as everyone else. Accept that.
Kristen,
ReplyDeleteI like the concept of your Two-voice Poem. As I'm reading your reflection, I start to wonder where have you been reading about racism, any links in particular that your interested readers (like me) can go to and read more about? Where have you noticed it start to happen everywhere? I think you are trying to say that racism is still an issue today and still permeates our society, even though it may not be overt. What do you think the message of your poem is and what did you learn by doing this activity?
Yours,
Ms. Hoque
